How to Play

Study the scene, identify its position on the map, and submit a pin before the timer ends. Accuracy matters more than speed.

Your first round

  1. Open the game on desktop and choose Play casual. Ranked play requires signing in.
  2. Look for landmarks and compare the scene with the map. Use the view controls to inspect a still image, or drag to look around in the beta panorama mode.
  3. Hold Tab to expand the map. Scroll to zoom and drag to pan, then click to place a pin.
  4. Release Tab to inspect the scene again. Press Space or the Guess button when you are ready.
  5. Review the answer, your distance and score, then start the next puzzle.

Shortcuts can be changed in Settings. The map also supports arrow-key pin adjustments when focused. If time expires, your last saved pin is submitted; no pin means zero points.

How points work

A normal round has a maximum of 5,000 points. The distance component starts at that maximum inside a small tolerance, then falls as your pin moves farther from the answer. The game uses normalized map coordinates; these are not automatically real-world meters.

Time can reduce the distance-based score by up to 5%. Some timed modes have a grace period before the penalty starts. Taking a moment to improve a guess is often worth more than submitting an inaccurate pin immediately.

Progression and ranked play

Completed rounds earn XP. Qualifying results can build a streak and increase XP rewards. Signed-in accounts retain progression between visits. Ranked rating is calculated separately from XP and round points, so they are not interchangeable numbers.

Later levels unlock optional challenges. Examples include reduced resolution, grayscale, a mirrored view and an eight-second sprint. The settings menu shows each available modifier, its unlock level and bonus. Combined bonuses affect the available point ceiling.

Getting better

Start with road junctions and distinctive buildings rather than small decorations. Compare the angle of the scene with the layout around your pin. After a round, use the answer to learn the area's landmarks instead of only checking the score.
